FishSense.com not just about Carp
Written by John Lilley

We have been receiving great feedback on our campaign, and I just want to thank everyone for their  support thus far. The data we require (other than catch reports) is being tested and automated, this will save considerable time in the future! I had no idea the sheer volume of climatic data that was available. The trick however has been implementing the technology to streamline the collection and analysis.

The various links and data we have already started to publish have gathered interest from many and I just want to answer a few questions that have been raised;

Is FishSense only about Carp?

Not at all, we are all about specimen fish of any species. The aim of the site is to capture key date and time data about catches for specimen fish of any kind. We then crunch data for that day, time and location to establish any correlation between various events, such as moon rise, moon set, phase, pressure, temperature, e.t.c.

The data we combine with catch reports covers data at the time of the catch and 7 days prior to the catch. This data is then combined to build a database that can be used to look for trends.

What are you selling?

We provide basic access to a community of like minded specimen hunters for no charge; each registered user has the ability to then build online catch reports.

Behind the scenes we fill the catch profiles with climatic data. Users can purchase a downloadable, A4 printed or Poster sized print of their basic profile or a professional profile (which contains 7 days prior data). These can be used for their own records and to keep for mementos of their triumph. The printed profiles make great gifts (click on the image at the top right to see an example, or click here).

We also partner with companies on the site (affiliates) so we can make enough to cover the costs of the developers, hosting and promotion. It is early days, depending on how the affiliate programs work out we may need to introduce other products that we sell directly to ensure the site is sustainable.

If you have an affiliate program or product that you feel will help support the site then please click on Contact Us and we can get on the phone and discuss how we can work together.

I work for a manufacturer, how do I get our new product reviewed?

That one is easy; we spend a lot of time on the bank and will review any product that helps specimen anglers. That said we will not give everything a positive review. We like products that catch fish, not anglers! Just contact us and we can make arrangements for a field test.

Can I advertise on the site?

Absolutely, as long as the product or service is connected to and supports our cause. Click on the Contact Us page and we can discuss options and availability. In fact if you have any questions about the site at all do not hesitate to contact us.

A New Temple Record
Written by Administrator

Ray Harding was the lucky capture of Temple’s newest big common, a stunning fish weighing 34lb 8oz which was new lake record for a common.

Fishing peg 5 along the road bank, Ray started his 24 hour session in peg 4, before moving to the next peg down to get a better angle for his baits, a 14mm Activate boilie which he fished out to between the islands close to the aerator.

Ray caught his stunning common at 2am Monday morning, which was in perfect condition, this fish is also a new record for weight gain as the fish has put on 10lb 8oz in just over two years.

Another 30 from Bury Hill

Having witnessed his mate, Simon Lessing catch a big Temple mirror weighing 33lb 8oz yesterday, David Pennicott decided to extend his stay on Temple until the weekend and was rewarded at 3.15am this morning (Friday 2nd June) with a big mirror known as Italian 2, which weighed 30lb 4oz. Fishing peg 15, David fished a Squirrel pop up out to the right hand side of the island in 7' water over a few free offerings. Shortly after catching the big mirror, David was also rewarded with a very pretty scaled mirror weighing 23lb which he caught using similar tactics and bait.

Carrying tag number 144125, the big mirror was stocked from our own barn pond on the 20/11/03 weighing 23lb 8oz.
